Tigers in Five

Tigers in Five

When the Tigers slayed the Yankees (boo hoo) in the ALDS they reclaimed
their position as this year's Team Of Destiny.  Then they made
tidy business of sweeping the A's out of the way in the ALCS.  Jim
Leyland is among the game's very best managers.  He knows how to
bring out the best in his players, as well as being a master
strategist.  They had their one and only slump when the season was
in the final stages.  When it counted more than ever, they rose to
the occasion.

Saw this headline today on the MSNBC Baseball Home page (yes, I read five or six baseball sites every
day, off season, on season, post season hot stove, whenever)

Sports Columnist (and novelist) Mike Lupica of The NY Daily News is an excellent writer.  Often he can
be annoying, sappy, self-righteous, or just too full of himself.  But
then sometimes he comes up with a column full of prose so wonderful it
makes it worth the effort to always scan what he has to say.

From today's column, regarding last night's game -- with the walk off bottom-of-the-9th Home Run by unlikely hero Bubba Crosby:

Thank you, Rogers Cadenhead

A Little History

DeanLand, the blog, began a good few years ago.  The first incarnation was around 1999, using either Pita
or Pyra, not sure which exactly.  Actually, I think I used both at
one time or another.  The user interface and what appeared to be a
more "for the geeks" sort of application warded me off, as I am an apps
guy, not a geek.
