Sports Columnist (and novelist) Mike Lupica of The NY Daily News is an excellent writer. Often he can
be annoying, sappy, self-righteous, or just too full of himself. But
then sometimes he comes up with a column full of prose so wonderful it
makes it worth the effort to always scan what he has to say.
From today's column, regarding last night's game -- with the walk off bottom-of-the-9th Home Run by unlikely hero Bubba Crosby:
Yankee fans have gotten spoiled the last 10 years. It has only been
October around here. So maybe everybody has forgotten the beauty and
drama and scoreboard watching of a September like this, forgotten how
special it all can be when the playoffs start early this way, and a
swing like Bubba's makes Yankee fans feel as if everything is running
hot and their way now.

Hmmm .... is that a pennant I smell in the near future? Watch out, Boston!
