February 24th: A Day of Note
Today is the birthday of many a notable:
And it is also the birthday of my UK blogger buddy Keith Povall. In addition to his Sturdy Soapbox blog, Keith also runs the very funny Socks and Sandals
site. Keith urges people who happen to spot anyone making the
fashion faux pas of wearing socks with sandals to snap a picture, send
it over to his site, and let the world take a gander. He has an
annual competition (voted on by site readers) for socks'n'sandals Wearer
of The Year. Lesser footwear faux fashionistas might be so lucky as to
be chosen (by Keith, we suspect) as Soxer of The Month.
Earlier this week Keith was lamenting over on The Study Soapbox about
UK government warnings and notices with regard to the Avian Flu.
Every here and there Keith's way with words gets me laughing out loud
at my desk:
Read the whole blog post
(and the ones above and below it) and get a sense of Keith's take on
life in a part of the UK known as The Black Country. Happy Birthday, Keith!
Date Recognition
Some astute readers, those
capable of a career in Forensics, will notice the date stamp on this
post indicates it arrived on the blog the day after
Keith's (and Eddie's, Paula's, Steve's, Abe's, Honus's, George's and
Edward's) actual birthday. That is merely a matter of time zone,
editing, getting around to posting after composing, and having other
work to do. In many time zones it was still February 24th when this
post hit the blog.
