Autumn in New York?
How can it be Autumn in New York, and there's no World Series here?
World Series Predictions
The Giants in 6. Thatís my prediction.
It must be Autumn
Here it is again. October, the Major League Baseball playoffs, and the Yanks are back at it. Life is good. They beat the upstart Anaheim Angels with some of that Yankee aura and mystique last night. A come-from-behind win, on a monster home run from the bat of Bernie Williams.
Hmm. Should I go totally public, and post my predictions for the outcome of the Division Series, Championship Series, and the World Series? Or maybe I should wait until after each round and post just the predictions for the one coming up.
That Sunday Feeling
It is very comforting that the Sopranos is back for another season of 13 episodes. Sunday nights have that certain familiar feel to them, knowing one can watch the comings, goings, and who-knows-what of those denizens of New Jersey. I also get a kick out of recognizing many of the locations, which are not to far from where I live across the state line here in NY.
A Quiet Weekend
Or maybe we should make that A Good Weekend.
A Bum Steer
A day or so ago there was mention in this space of the seeming disappearance of use in the general parlanceÖ of the word BUM. Vernacular being a contemporary dynamic, sort of a thing-of-the-moment, it struck me as odd when my referrer page showed a few hits under ìbums in midtown Manhattan.î
And there it is.
KIDS VISIT - SUMMER 2002
July is always the month during which I get the kids each Summer. This year it began a little later than usual. My son came up with me, back to New York, on July 12th. My daughter went on an Outward Bound trip, living the rough life on a boat for two weeks with no creature comforts. Add to this the Survival aspect, roughing it off the boat, all alone, for the better part of three days.
She lived through it, survived it, got very tan.
Phone Biz Funnies
WorldCom goes bankrupt, but not until after exposure of oodles of corporate waste, internal hijinx, and greed. As the stock value was plummeting and debt was rising, WorldCom execs are cashing out to the tune of seven figure stock sales.
Qwest, the company that makes Global Crossing and WorldCom seem like altar boys, is under Federal investigation by the Justice Department for criminal wrongdoings.
