Evil Tentacles & Clear Channel -- One and The Same?

Recently in this space mention was made of how Orwellian some things seem. The media monoliths seem to have all sorts of power, their tentacles reaching far and wide.

Some readers may have noticed a link over on the right, to the site, clearchannelsucks.org.

The Senate Says No

As I was Saying . . .

As I was Saying . . .

There is much to say, time is limited, so I will be brief (yes, I know, a rarity in these parts). Also, despite all the teasers, Guest Blogger is taking her time in completing her entry. So what to do? Have another guest blogger, that's what! See below for more on that.

So Much To Say . . .

So Much To Discuss . . . So Little Time

So little time to blog, anyway. Work gets in the way, making a living, striving to find a way to meet the obligations, and so forth. Hopefully, not in vain!

The prior blog entry, a September 11th observation, remembrance and commentary, broke this blog's record for hits within one week's time. Thanks to the many who linked to it, pointed to it, referred it others.

Two Years Hence

The Big 85!

The Big 85!

Congratulations to my Dad, who hit the Big 85 today. No, that's not a golf score. It is a birthday. We celebrated with very nice dinner in Manhattan. Dad, Mom, Guest Blogger and me.

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Rich In Many Ways

Rich In Many Ways

I am rich in many ways. Rich, fortunate, satisfied, happy. Friends, family, loved ones are abundant. For the most part, I have my health, as do those around me. I do not lack for material things, and over the years have accumulated various items which bring me joy.

I enjoy much love, as in a loving relationship, a family, and numerous close friendships. A good many of these friendships stood by me during the toughest of times.

Pants On Fire

PANTS ON FIRE

Howard D., the supposed front-runner among the gaggle of nine campaigners for the Democratic Presidential nomination, needs to carry a fire extinguisher. This would be for the fire that keeps breaking out in his pants.

Flip-flopping on position is one thing. And not always such a bad thing, either. There are times to rethink where one stands, for any variety of reasons. Time, personal experience, perspective over the long run.

Quick Notes / Home From The Road

Quick Notes / Home From The Road

Took a short fun trip. Nice getaway. Guest Blogger and I hit the road in a rental car, and left our worries behind.

Visited friends in VA just outside of D.C. and then just outside of Greensboro, NC.

Then I went with the kids to see John Mayer and The Counting Crows. More on that show later, as in another entry another time.

The End of Summer

The End of Summer

Autumn begins on September 23rd. Thatís the official date. But the end of the Summer, unofficially perceived, and thereby emotionally calculated by events such as Labor Day, the beginning of the school year, and the end of August, is right here, right now.

In some Southern states they begin the K-12 school year in mid- to late-August. To those raised in the NYC metropolitan area, this seems like a major indiscretion, virtually denying and cheating kids out of the end of the Summer.
