THE YANKS GO TO THE WORLD SERIES
Continuing where we left off, as the Yanks won, with loads of stories and anecdotes. What a wonderful time to be a Yankee fan!!
And Eddie Layton will be playing the Stadium organ again if the series returns to New York over this coming weekend. We are rooting for the Yanks in 6 games, so they can wrap it up at Yankee Stadium next Saturday. And also so Gerladine in Security and Eddie Layton at The Organ can enjoy the celebration, and go out in grand style!
He Called It
K-Willy, honorable second son of our friend who is the co-owner of our partial season ticket plan seats at Yankee Stadium, deserves full credit. K-Willy picked the Yanks to win the ALCS in 7. And he did so quite some time ago, in a public forum. Yes, K-Willy, a young man true to his convictions, made his predictions known to all the world. Yes, he made his picks in public, on the MLB.COM contest page.
His father, a major Yanks fan with whom we are thrilled, glad and proud to share our annual ticket plan, informs us that K-Willy has been touting the Marlins as the NL team to watch since May. Good call, K-Willy!
One more note re: K-Willy: he calls the Yanks in 5 in this series. As does his his Dad.
I say Yanks in 6, winning the big one at home next Saturday night.
Lenís Discovery of The Result of Game 7
My buddy Len Scaffidi, a recent guest blogger hereabouts, and a fine, upstanding Yankee fan of many years, ended up out of the house last Thursday night. He was unable to watch or listen to Game 7, the final showdown of The Yanks versus the Red Sox.
Whatís a fan to do? He had a gig that night, and was committed. Despite his prediction that it would go seven games, even a die-hard fan like Len figured it would already be over come Thursday night.
He goes to the gig. He inquires about the game. He gets some, er, misinformation. Goes home. Goes to bed. Wakes up, still doesnít know what happened. It gets better and better. Read his full and entertaining account of the whole story here, youíll enjoy it!
The Fine Art of Stadium Seat Upgrades
This fellow Randy tells a wonderful story about going to the last regular season home game at Yankee Stadium. We were there, too. It was a good crowd, a very entertaining game, and Joe Torre let Roger Clemens act as Manager for the final game. I found Randyís blog via a link from Scoble. So thanks to Scoble for the link, and to Randy for the entertaining story.
More Randy, More Fox
Randy also has a another, very telling, item on his blog about yet another Fox screw-up. Much like their co-owned NY Post, which congratulated the Red Sox on winning the 7th game of the ALCS, FOX SPORTS online was offering a Red Sox-as-AL-Champions T-Shirt after the game. Maybe we should buy some and send them to Pedro and Grady. And Theo, the young wunderkind GM. And Larry Lucchino, the one who referred to the Yankees as ìThe Evil Empire.î
Ah, sweet vengeance. The Curse Lives!
Speaking of THE CURSE
Susan was so excited over the Yankeeís exciting win with that walk-off home run that she went to Modellís the next morning. Modellís stores usually open at 10 AM. But the day after the Yankís winning the ALCS, they opened their stores earlier, to welcome in the throngs of fans eagerly seeking Yankee wear.
Friday evening Susan surprised me with a wonderful new T-Shirt to add to my collection of Yankee gear. It had the Yankee Midnight Blue background, a big, bold red 1918, and just below that it reads, The Curse Lives! And then below that just to the right, there's the familiar interlocking N-Y, the Yankeeís Logo.
