Rambling Blog

Allow me to roam all over the blogeteria in this post-Turkey-weekend post.

... remember, forks on the left, knives on the right. This turkey knows fine etiquette, as we can see. Imagine what it would be like for the humans if turkeys had discovered America. Would Peter Minueturkey have bought the island of Manhattan? And for what, $24 worth of turkey feed? Would Native Americans have still been invited to the table? After all, they did hunt and eat turkeys. Remember, Ben Franklin proposed the turkey as our national bird. Someone from back then nixed that idea, told him to go fly a kite, and weíve been harnessing electricity as a result ever since.

3 candles lit, five more nights to go! And Happy 3rd Night of Hanukkah to all of you Adam Sandler fans, coreligionists, and potentially-mentioned persons for his next-yearís (or thereafter) "Hanukkah Song" update. The one nice thing about Hanukkah falling the day after Thanksgiving is that it manages to put a proper distance between it and that other major December event. And I donít mean Pearl Harbor Day, either, or that most fun-filled holiday of all, New Yearís Eve.

Speaking of New Yearís Eve Ö did you know that Dick Clark turned 73 the other day? You think he still uses Clearasil? Another question: do you remember the name of the newsman on NBC who was their perennial New Year's Eve anouncer? It was Ben Grauer.

Meow!!!

You write about your cat, and suddenly the blog-world expands and explodes into areas one never knew existed! More proof of the power of Destiny. Cats certainly have their place in Blogdom, as evidenced by the Cat Blogger Project. Check it out. Bring some catnip with you to sprinkle on your monitor ... just in case.

CYBORG DEANLAND ACRONYM

a groovy acronym, wouldn't you agree?
Thatís the cyborg DeanLand, another neato nifty service offered by the ever entertaining brunching shuttlecocks. I wonder if the staff over there plays Badminton during their breaks? Do you think they take a BRUNCH break? Do they ride the shuttle to get to work?

Nice job they did, automating the acronym and making it graphic, to boot. You can play with it, and see what other cool acronyms it can generate. Check out their site, it is always entertaining. And a great way to waste time, too! Right up there with FreeCell!

NOVEMBER, then DECEMBER

How did it become December, already? Wasn't it just December, like, uh, a few months ago? Doc writes about time passing by more quickly as one gets older. While there is certainly merit in this perception, I have another theory.

This year, as opposed to all others before it, went by quicker. End of story.
