In The Interest of FAIRNESS

Regular visitors to this space are well aware of the political leanings hereabouts, in particular of late, our opposition to the proposed rulemakings put forth by FCC Chairman Michael Powell. Readers are also aware of the many links posted hereabouts, pointing to Powell's gaffes, moves of note, and the many, many quarters in which his recent proposed rulemaking is being savaged (properly, of course, in our opinion).

In the interest of Fairness (there was once an FCC doctrine to that effect, repealed during Reagan), it seems only proper to make note of an Op-Ed piece appearing in today's New York Times, written by FCC Chairman Powell.

Since it appears in the Times, and the Old Gray Lady still chooses to archive all the news that's fit to charge for in their opinion (we refer to that as the Times Fishwrapper Fee, a true premium - just ask them at the Times), one can either click to the Times link, or one can click here, where your friends at DeanLand were fair enough to save it for your edification.

More later regarding reaction and opinion to Powell's Op-Ed piece. Stay tuned, to coin a phrase.
