FLYING PIGS ARE BLOWING IN THE WIND
THIS JUST IN: DYLAN IS SHILLIN'? THEN PIGS MUST BE FLYING
It seemed a mistake, at first. No, that couldnít be right. Was that him? In a commercial? A Victoriaís Secret commercial, no less? Yes, it is true. It was him.
The unofficial poet laureate
of the 60ís and then some, is not only letting the famed women's
undergarment(et al) and catalog/magazine purveyor use one of his songs,
but is also letting them use his smiling visage. And the song was
**not** Just Like a Woman. You might say he is lending them his, uh,
support. Is this his way of staying Forever Young? Has he become the
Master Of Wow?
Pigs have begun to fly. Oh! Mama! Can this really
be the end? To be stuck inside a mobile water bra with the Memphis
Blues again? Hey, Mr. Lingerie Man, play a song for me.
Say it ainít so, Bob. Say "It Ainít Me, Babe!"
This may bring a whole new set of interpretive screeds, perhaps starting with his classic, Mama, Youíve Been On My Mind.
Pretty
In Pink ñ would that be the pigs, or would it have to do with the
models? Lay, Lady, Lay, thereís another one up for some new discussion.
Maybe
Mick Jagger will do an ad for them. Wouldn't that be just Like a
Rolling Stone? Well you know something it happening here, but you donít
know what it is. Do you, Mr. Jones? Or might that end up, next time,
being Jones-New York ?
Hey, look up there! Oh, never mind. Sorry. It was just another pig
flying by. You don't have to be a lingerie salesperson to know which
way the wind blows.
Next thing you know itíll be Dick Cheney accepting the Nobel Peace Prize. The times, they definitely are a'changing.
This could open some new opportunities. Maybe a Maxi-Shields ad ñ ìIts alright ma, Iím only bleediníî
Among
the fans there will surely be an uproar. An Idiot Wind will gust
through, all over the net fan-base boards. Who, we wonder, will provide
him with Shelter From The Storm?
NECESSARY LINK
It just seems that after posting that item, above, that a link to Mike Golby's blog
is in order. I often refer to Mike as the blogosphere's Dylan
Librettist. No-one makes better use of Dylan quotes than Mike, so check
out his blog. To me, it is required reading.
And, of course, Mike writes about the Dylan Victoria's Secret ad, too. Good to see Mike posting on a regular basis again.
