DEAN FOR CLARK

I post this, since I am receiving many hits each day from the various pro-Clark blogs and sites that list DeanLand as a Clark-friendly site. Yes, this is a Pro-Clark site. Of the remaining 9 wannabe candidates (should we really consider Sharpton in that group?), Clark is the one who gets the nod from DeanLand.

DEAN FOR GORE

Gore is the man Iíd really like to see at the top of the ticket. Gore-Clark: brains and brawn, or just brains and brains. Until such time as Gore decides to come back in, Clark has my support.

DEAN FOR DEAN

I am eager for this campaign business to be over with. My name is not too common, so loads of friends have always just referred to me by my first name. Many a blogroll had me listed, simply, as Dean. Just Dean, not Dean Landsman, not DeanLand. Now that the doctor from Vermont is getting the more immediate name recognition, I have gone from being Dean to having to be Dean Landsman. While this is certainly no great shakes, it will be a relief when Clark gets the nomination, Dr. Howard from VT becomes a footnote, and I can claim rights (in my sphere, anyway) to my name, my first name, and only my name.

HILLARY: NO WAY!

All this talk that Hillary plans to enter the race, either on her own or as Clarkís choice for the Veep slot on the ticket. No, no, no. Despite some of the weaker minds in the party, despite McCauliffe being a Clintonite, despite the media coverage she generates, surely EVERY DEMOCRAT WITH HALF A BRAIN understands that Hillary would pose a huge liability to the campaign.

So much middle America despises her! They see her as a duplicitous, double-dealing, self-aggrandizing conniver. And there is no changing their minds about this. I know Democrats who do not trust her, and might be reluctant to vote for a ticket that would put her a heartbeat or a gunshot away from the Oval Office.

Fence-sitters, Independents, youthful and naÔve Third/Green Party sycophants (who are either too naÔve or too stupid to realize that a 3rd Party vote is a waste that enables some dodo like Dubya to wield decision-making power over the composition of The Supreme Court ñ power that has longer range effects than any single Presidentís regime) would flock away from voting Democratic if Hillary is associated with the ticket.

Hillary may or may not aspire to the Presidency. All the more reason to get a Clark and ??? (I still like Tom Harkin as the Veep running mate for Clark) ticket, or a Gore-Clark ticket, so the next eight years are Hillary-free insofar as the White House goes. Hillary can do wonderful things as a Senator from New York. Sheís already shown that she can be an effective and powerful player inside the Beltway.

I like Hillary as one of my two Senators. New York is well represented by Hillary and Schumer. Better to keep them there, where they can do a great deal of good, than to let power-grabbing or megalomania or avarice ñall things of which Hillary is accusedócompel her to go for the job that hubby Bill held. Hillary can have much impact and become a major force in The Senate. She can prove that sheís a viable and capable representative of the state. She can also put to rest the theory that the Senate seat was just a warm-up for the bigger power grab. She can shut them up and build a stronger resume.

Let a Presidency bid be Hillaryís in 2012, if sheís still interested.

Candidacy Blog Entertainment

Over on the Independents For Clark blog there are some very entertaining posts. The comments are a hoot, and Iíve been having some fun over there. Even if you are not interested in Clarkís race, there is some fun reading on the blog.

Glad I ran into Rick Heller at BloggerCon. Heís responsible for the Independents For Clark site, and doing a fine job.

POST SEASON IS HERE

And I am getting the usual hate mail from various anti-Yankee correspondents. A buddy of mine, business partner in one venture, and all around good guy, is a Red Sox fanatic. He left me mean-spirited e-mails and one voice-mail when the Red Sox took Game 1 of the ALCS. It is just one game of seven, I reminded him.

I see Dave Winer, a Met fan (the poor guy) is not only rekindling his Yankee venom, but also linking to Yankee haters. At lunch on Sunday during BloggerCon, Dave settled into the next table and expressed his hatred for the Yanks. I explained to him, knowing he roots for the hapless Mets, that there is a shot that the Mets could become competitive again. They have some talented kids on the roster, and if they wake up and hire a real GM and get Wilpon and Son out of the Baseball Operations, they could be a contender. I further explained that I would like to see both New York teams do well. It is good for baseball, good for the city.

Dave noted that I was rather magnanimous, more so than he would expect from a Yankee fan. Then he muttered something under his breath about the Yanks and Steinbrenner and Hitler, or Satan or something to that effect. Since he was eating, and I was about to eat, it seemed best to drop this otherwise exciting topic.

Dave gives life-long Yankee Hater Michael Feldman a link in Scripting News, the link actually appears when one hovers the mouse over the word ìhated.î Feldmanís humorous account of the seminal beginnings of his hatred of the Yanks is at least worth the read for the chuckle effect. And, to a life-long Yankee fan such as I, there is a certain snicker-effect, knowing that the Yanks (guided by the checkbook of their owner) are the winningest team of all.

Good sign by a fan at the Thursday game: YANKS 26 ñ BOSTON 1918. Wish I had a graphic of it to post here! Hereís another good one from Game 2 at Yankee Stadium:

at Yankee Stadium, Game 2. The one that tied it up at 1 each. GO YANKS!

SUCCESSIVE BiCoastal GEEK WEEKENDRY!!

Last weekend there was BloggerCon, in Cambridge, just outside of Boston. This coming weekend the OíReilly people will host Foo Camp, in Sebastapol, just outside of the Bay Area.

A look at who will be there makes it seem like many of last weekendís attendees are simply reconvening.

Two questions come to mind:

1. Doesnít a ìFOO CAMPî remind you of that old chestnut, the ìwhen the Foo Shitsî joke?

2. Shouldnít OíReilly, in this politically sensitive climate, change its name to Franken?
