HALLE, BRITT, and the FAMILY GOOGLE

Can you imagine someone reading that headline and trying to guess the content?

CATWOMAN. Er, make that CATGUY

Todayís e-mail is rife with people sending links to various URLs covering the gender-bender story of the day. It seems that the stunt double for many of the action shots in the Halle Berry film Catwoman turns out to be a man. Same skin tone, same height, similar body build (similar being the key word, surely not identical!). He turns out to be a Hawaiian dancer, of some significant renown in dance media circles.

Also in some of these news reports are titillating stories where Halle Berry reveals that she had many ìJanet Jackson moments,î with her breasts popping out of the costume, or splitting her pants.

One would know for sure, in an event of pants being split, if it was her or the Hawaiian guy, sometimes referred to as Catman.

Hmm, a Janet Jackson moment. Does that mean that after the movie hits the screens, Howard Stern will be the one getting in trouble and taking the heat?

GOOD NEWS FROM BRITT

I like Britt Blaser. Even when he and I disagree we do it with respect. Heís a thinking man, and a guy who speaks his mind.

I was surprised to see that Britt, a savvy guy who writes technical stuff, who I figured was one of those guys who just sort of knows all that tech stuff that glosses over my head ñ also has endured some difficulties with a form of web graphics. The surprise came in the form of an e-mail from Britt this evening, in which he discusses a new software he says it worth its salt (as I said above, if Britt says it is so, you can generally take that to the bank), and that this will be made available to the bloggers attending the Conventions.

Every time I deal with a photo on my blog, I have a problem. I need to upload the image, usually shrinking it, then I have to get the reference to it right, yada, yada.

Because of my work with Spirit of America, I met a couple of excellent programmers who host a web service designed originally for professional photographers to host their photos at various resolutions, display them to customers, and handles sales, payments and fulfillment. It's called
http://www.exposuremanager.com.

Naturally, I wanted to re-purpose the service for us bloggers, so we discussed it Sunday and the first expression of the idea turned into http://www.electionphotos04.com, a service for Convention bloggers. I blogged it today at http://www.blaserco.com/blogs/2004/07/22.html.

Of course, you already knew there was a link here in DeanLand to Brittís blog, right?

THE FAMILY GOOGLE

A friend suggested that it is a good idea to Google every one of your relatives from time to time. Just recently Susan and I spoke about whom from our past lives weíve Googled. Just tonight I looked up someone I worked with when I was in the Radio business, and was thrilled to learn they are back here on the East Coast. Great news! Might as well give a call!

Whatís interesting about Googling (does that look like it is spelled correctly?) family members is seeing them in a different light. How they appear on the web, in what capacity, how others describe them, and so forth.

An extended family member, now deceased, is referred to in one search as a famous person. There was a hobby field in which he was well known. Since his death, he has taken epic proportion, and is a legend among some. Actually, it was nice to see something positive about him.

Warning: I come from a small family, and googling just a few people ended up eating a good many hours. If youíre from a large family, get ready to devote a weekend. Or more.
