CES 2010: What a Difference a Year Makes

CES takes place in Las Vegas each year in Janueary. We've spoken there for the past two years, at Jeff Pulver's Social Media Jungle.Could CES in Las Vegas be an indicator of how industry and commerce are setting the mood for the New Year?  From last year to this year the difference in cheer is palpable.  The air and the ambiance at CES (The Consumer Electronics Show) here in Las Vegas is a dramatic difference from the drama, dread and despair of 2009.  There is a aura of excitement, a ton of new products being introduced, and a sense of confidence and opportunity prevails.  Even the roadies and support crew (schlepping equipment in and around the vast Las Vegas Convention Center) are buzzing about with a sense of purpose and  intent.  3D is all the rage.  The synthesis of online and connected activity into daily life, via consumer electronics, has a buzz and an energy that indicates a total turnaround from a year ago.

Rather than sit around in despair and despondency, it seems that innovation and adoption was the way to deal with the somber past year.  In and of itself, that is a very positive sign.
