November is here. Today is Election Day. Veteran's Day is
around the bend, and then Thanksgiving looms on the horizon. But
November has lost some of its usual joy, at least given what took place
two nights ago.

Sports Columnist (and novelist) Mike Lupica of The NY Daily News is an excellent writer. Often he can
be annoying, sappy, self-righteous, or just too full of himself. But
then sometimes he comes up with a column full of prose so wonderful it
