This blogger thinks I lack good writing skills.

Despite the www.giftcoach.org URL, the site is known as Wealth Bondage. Interesting stuff, much of it tongue in cheek. Clearly, someoneís or some group of peopleís soapbox and forum for spouting thoughts and ëtude. And pretty good writing, too. A different sort of style, a peculiar sort of blogging voice, but an entertaining read.

In Defense of Advertising

In many quarters it is extremely popular, to the point of seeming politically and culturally correct, to hold advertising in low regard. Commercials are dissed, advertising as a general entity is treated as a distasteful matter.

That shit wonít fly with me.

Many hardworking and creative people ply their trade in the ad business. And even more people ñnot on the creative sideówork alongside them, in support, research, technical and administrative areas.

EVIL SPAM GOES MAD!

All over the web of late, particularly on the blogs I look at, complaints about an abundance of e-spam are a common cry. Yes, indeed it does seem that the amount of spam has increased in recent days. The delete key is getting overworked!

Perhaps, I mused, it was yet another revolting aspect of the holiday and gift-giving/selling season.

TRIPPIN' AT THE END OF THE YEAR

As 2001 meanders to the end of the final month of the year, it was time once again for my annual December Family Excursion.

This year there were some changes from the usual course of events. I flew to NC to spend a day there with the kids at their place (they live there, with the ex-wife). That day included shoe shopping, jeans shopping, shirt shopping, and anything else the ex could figure my pocket was good for. But that's not too much of a complaint, really.

HAPPY BLOGDAY TO DEANLAND

Yes, one year ago today the doctor came out of the weblivery room and announced that it was, indeed, a Blog. And I am the proud parent.

Amazing as it seems, there are a few hundred people regularly checking this page out, seeing what I have to say, and some of those people even send me their comments.

Then there are all those strange humanoids who come here because I once wrote "Fuck Bill Gates" and something about the horse he came in on.

AN EERIE BIG APPLE

Many people just adore the holiday season. They devote websites to it, they keep pictures of it up all year in their homes or offices. Houses and offices and public places are decorated. Lights ablaze, decorative presentations, all sorts of stuff. Gaiety and spirit abound.

I, for one, hate the holiday season, and am always happy when it is over. I extend this animus to the Super Bowl. After the Super Bowl, all this forced celebration and festivity is finally at an end.

HOW DO YOU SPELL HANUKKAH?

Is it Chanukah? Hanukah? Hanukkah?

Loyal and patient readers of this space will recall that after losing a friendly wager over the outcome of the World Series, my making good on it meant wearing NO YANKEE CLOTHES OR PARAPHERNALIA for a month.

The month is over. Whew!

The Yankee cap is back on. The Yankee warm-up jacket is back on the coat rack (but we are enjoying June weather at this December moment, so not even a windbreaker was called for today!), the Yankee socks, all sorts of goodies.

It looks like me again in the mirror.

The 2001 World Series is over and done, put a fork in it, finished. History.

The Arizona Diamondbacks won in a thrilling seven game series. In grand style, they did it in the bottom of the ninth, right out of a storybook. Adding to the drama and to their pride, they did it by getting the tying and winning runs when facing the very best relief pitcher and closer in the game, The Yankeesí stopper, Mariano Rivera. Mr.
